Dharamsala Diary Day 4
I’ll get the cricket bit out of the way quickly. England managed to simultaneously suck and blow. There were a few exciting passages of play but it was largely a day of Indian dominance.
I bumped into Probably Paul on the way in again and we sat together for the day. It is good to have conversation after being more or less by myself for two weeks. I’m not sure what he thinks about that, but he is a good person to spend the day with.
The weather today, particularly this morning was absolutely stunning. I witnessed a beautiful sunrise over the mountains as I had coffee and breakfast before setting off this morning.
The walk in was another belter, and it really is a sporting scene like no other when play gets underway.
The Indian crowd tends to turn up a bit later in the day than the tourists, so in the morning it is maybe 50/50 in terms of supporters but by the afternoon it is probably 70%, and it is infectious being surrounded by people having a very good day out.
I have zero empathy with the people for whom the cricket is somehow ruining their day. The absolute worst thing that can happen in a cricketing sense results in an extra couple of days exploring this part of the world. It is an amazing privilege to be here and just a brilliant experience from start to finish. I can’t wait to watch India complete their ritual humiliation tomorrow.
